    NDT Services

Format NDT are experts in radiographic and ultrasonic testing, our range of non-destructive testing capabilities extend much further than that though into hardness testing, dye penetrant testing, visual testing/replication NDT, ferrite testing and more.

Non-destructive testing is ideal for a range of manufacturing processes and companies, we can provide you with non-destructive examination, reporting and evaluation that is second to none.

    Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
This versatile non-destructive testing method can be applied to most non-metallic and metallic materials. One of the most common practices is the ultrasonic testing of welds.

    Radiographic Testing (RT)
Radiography uses penetrating Gamma or X Radiation to examine internal features and defects in structures, materials or products. Our full range of radiographic testing methods can be performed from our fully equipped radiography laboratory or on-site.

    Replication Inspection
By utilising various compounds replication inspection allows the comprehensive evaluation a component's microstructure. This inspection method is extensively used in numerous industrial sectors like nuclear, petro-chemical and power generation.

    Dye Penetrant Inspection
This non-destructive testing method is widely used and known for its effectiveness and simplicity. We harness this method by applying a fluorescent or visible die to non-porous objects in order to reveal surface-breaking flaws. For penetrant testing we follow a strict adherence to the international standard ASTM E1417.

    Ferrite Testing
We utilise ferrite testing to measure ferrite content like duplex and austenitic from stainless steels. This testing method is used to verify whether the applied heat treatment has reached the performance balance that is required. Ferrite testing also highlights the presence of potentially damaging third phases in stainless steels.

    Visual Inspection (VT)
Also known as visual testing, this non-destructive testing method can be used at various stages during manufacture or in-service to examine and detect a variety of flaws. Visual inspection is the most widely used method for the examination and detection of surface cracks and how they relate to structural failure.

    Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI)
Often referred to as magnetic testing, MPI is used for locating near to surface or surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials or finished products.

    Positive Material Identification (PMI)
A PMI test provides grading and alloy chemistry of materials against ASME and UNS material codes. For positive material identification we use the X-MET 5000 XRF Analyser.

Format NDT are fully equipped to meet any inspection criteria required by our clients. Get in touch with us today to see how we can help you with your non-destructive testing needs.
