Defensive Driver Training Limited was formed in 1989, since when, we have trained more than 250,000 drivers for over 2000 companies, local authorities, government agencies and NHS Trusts throughout the UK and Ireland. We are a BS EN ISO 9001:2015 Registered Company.

Our range of courses covers car, van, mini bus, PCV, LGV drivers up to 44 tonnes and specialist courses for local authorities. Our clients include global companies in the banking, petro-chemical, finance and construction industries, as well as many of the major utility companies across the UK. In the public sector we work with dozens of local authorities, government departments and agencies as well as many NHS Trusts, Universities and schools.

Our Instructors

Our training staff come from a variety of backgrounds including the Police and Fire Service. All are Department of Transport Approved Driving Instructors (ADI) as required, and are registered as Fleet Trainers with the Driving Standards Agency. Many have advanced driving qualifications such as the RoSPA Diploma in Driving Instruction and the Department of Transport Cardington A test. Above all they are good communicators with the ability to pitch the training at a level that will help the individual driver to develop their own skills and safety.

Training Locations

Courses can be held at any location in the UK or Republic of Ireland. Most clients choose their own premises as a training venue. If we are running a theory session, which we would recommend, we need a suitable training room capable of seating the delegates. We can provide all audio- visual equipment if you do not have it on site.

For the on-road training we need the appropriate vehicles which should be insured for our instructor to drive.

If your drivers are dispersed around the country, we can book suitable low- cost training rooms on your behalf and you are also welcome to use our training facilities in Stourbridge which is just 10 minutes from the M5 motorway.

JAUPT Approved CPC Periodic Refresher Training

Since the introduction of Driver CPC in September 2008, thousands of drivers have attended our JAUPT Approved courses which we run throughout the UK. Driver CPC courses are delivered by training professionals who have the relevant knowledge and experience of driving PCV or LGVs. Driver CPC courses are designed to be interactive and interesting for the delegates and relevant to their daily role. Most of our approved courses have been developed in conjunction with our CPC clients. The content reflects their operation and addresses their identified training needs. We aim to deliver a driver CPC course that benefits both the driver and the employer, and achieves far more than just a tick in an attendance box.

Course Administration

We offer a full booking and administration service which allows major clients to hand over the total training programme administration to us. We liaise with individual drivers or departments and give the client on line access to our intranet booking system. This allows them to have real time information on the status of their training programme as well as details on the individual drivers, departments or branches.
