Following another successful year and as part of its on-going business strategy, Birley Manufacturing have strengthened its management team to lead the company as it moves forward with its business plans.
Darren Smith, previously Sales Manager, has been promoted to the position of Sales Director and will provide strategic direction for the entire sales team, focusing on generating new business leads as well as stimulating business within the company’s existing client base.

Jim Gilbert has been promoted to the position of Operations Director and as such Jim will assume full responsibility for all operations inclusive of CAD, Procurement, Production and Project Delivery. Jim, 48, brings a wealth of experience to this new role, having previously worked with Havelock Europa and other respected organisations such as Essanby and DRM Display Industries where he helped improve company profitability at various sites across the UK.

Darren and Jim will join Steve English, Birley Managing Director and Financial Controller Tracey Roberts, on the newly formed Board of Directors ensuring that there is a strong structure in place to progress the business and take advantage of future opportunities
.
Also this month as part of the company restructure, Melvin Winder has takenup additional responsibilities in his role as Production Control Manager. Melvin, 46 from Barnsley, will now have full accountability for all production matters, for the planning and scheduling of all resources at Birley including personnel, materials, labour, and machinery.

Birley’s Managing Director Steve English said: “These changes in thecompany structure signify our commitment to future growth and to developing the wealth of talent we have amongst our workforce. I have no doubt that our new Board of Directors will succeed in steering the company towards greater achievements, providing clear guidance and leading by example.
