Self Storage is an industry whereby storage space is rented to customers to store their own goods for certain periods of time. The storage can come in the form of large and small containers, lockers, rooms and outdoor space. They can be used by private individuals and companies alike. Businesses will often use this system when they have run out of space in their own company or to expand. Over the years these storage facilities have grown considerably giving the customers freedom to come and go with their own goods and giving a good level of security. A person who is moving home and needs temporary storage for his or her furniture may use this facility. A large business may want to store merchandise or archived and inventory records. The rented spaces are normally secured by a special key or special lock, but in some facilities in house security is on site to offer further protection. Unlike a warehouse, self storage employees do not have access to the contents of the facility.
