Metal Polishers

Metal polishers use techniques such as polishing and buffing, which are processes for smoothing the surface of a work piece. Metal polishers do this by using an abrasive or a work wheel. Polishing refers to a process using an abrasive that is glued to the work wheel, while buffing uses a loose abrasive applied to the work wheel. Metal polishers will use both of these processes and while polishing is a more aggressive process, buffing is less harsh and produces a smoother brighter finish. Metal polishers are employed to enhance the looks of an object, by removing oxidization, and create a reflective surface, or prevent further corrosion of the metals. The removal of oxidization from metal items by metal polishers is achieved by the use of metal polish or tarnish remover. To prevent further oxidization, metal polishers may apply a coat of wax, lacquer or oil to the surface. Applications vary enormously, and enhancement by polishing can be applied to parts on motorbikes, cars, cookware and water pipes, to prevent corrosion.
