Generator Sales
An electrical generator is a device that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy. It forces electrons in the windings to run through the external circuit creating electricity. It is similar to a water pump in that it creates the flow of water but does not create the water inside. The main source of mechanical energy can be created by a combustion engine such as the type found on a construction site, or a reciprocating or turbine steam engine. There are wind turbines, compressed air and even hand crank devices, all of which can be used to produce electricity for one purpose or another. In a generator there are two main terms to address, mechanical and electrical. The mechanical refers to the rotor which is the rotating part of an electrical machine and the stator which is the stationary part. The electrical refers to the armature which is the main power producing component and the field which refers to magnetic field of the dynamo or alternator.
