Dust Extraction Systems
A Dust Extraction System is an air quality improvement system used in the commercial and industrial sectors and even in the home to improve the air quality by removing particulate matter from the air and environment. It is mainly used to improve the breathable quality of air for workers, residents and commuters. They work on a basic formula of capture, convey and collect. First the dust must be captured and this is done by using devices such as capture hoods to catch the dust at the source of origin. Sometimes this device will have an integral port to which a duct can be directly attached. Secondly the dust must be conveyed. This is done using a ducting system that is properly sized and manifolded to maintain a constant and consistent minimum air velocity which is required to keep the dust in suspension for transporting to a collection device. Finally it must be collected. This can be carried out in a number of ways depending on the application and the dust being treated. It may be simple pass through filter, a cyclonic separator, or an impingment baffle. Other devices used to collect the unwanted dust are a multi stage baghouse, and electrostatic precipitator or a chemically treated wet scrubber or stripping tower.
