Drum
and barrel pumps are usually electrical and mechanical devices, or both, which
are used to remove or siphon out the contents of a drum or barrel. To do this,
drum and barrel pumps are fixed to the opening of the drum or barrel to be
filled or emptied. Most drum and barrel pumps are designed to provide safe and
easy transfer of a wide range of liquids and difficult to handle fluids, such as
solvents, bases and acids. Containers are quickly emptied or filled using drum
and barrel pumps and virtually eliminate splashes and spills. There are many
different drum and barrel pump models, with different pump tube lengths,
available to meet a wide range of requirements. Different liquids especially
chemicals require different types of drum and barrel pumps. Some of the
chemicals drum and barrel pumps can handle are boric acid, calcium chloride,
acetone, mercuric cyanide and sodium chloride, to name just a few.
