Window & Door Security Systems Ltd. was formed in January 2003. Directors John Davies and Steve Harbage introduced the concept of a perforated window barrier to the UK market in 1992 recognising the need for sympathetic window protection. With a strong background in both marketing and manufacturing physical security products, W&DSS can tailor their unique system to suit a variety of window configurations.

Typical installations involve window protection of many Local Authority building including Leisure Centres, Libraries, Schools, Colleges, Hospitals and Medical Centres, Offices, Religious Buildings, Bus Shelters and even Car Parks and Railway Stations and Bridge Walkways.

Marketing Director Steve believes that Physical Security Products needn’t be an eyesore. Traditional grille or mesh products can deteriorate quickly leaving an unsightly appearance, and steel bars give an institutional feeling to those occupying the premises.

Security Shield offers an aesthetically effective alternative that can even smarten up a scruffy exterior.

Products

Security Shield Intruder is an industry accredited and police approved window and door security system conceived as an architectural product. It is tested and accredited to LPS 1175 SR1 by the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) offering benchmarked security for procurement and specification.

There are no unsightly iron bars, steel mesh or expanded metal. Glass protection is completely unobtrusive. The system complements existing windows and doors whether classical or contemporary, traditional or modern. It is a durable metal screen mounted in front of or behind existing windows. It is not a film or a fly screen.

Security Shield Intruder protects property and glazing by preventing access to windows. Various fixing options can accommodate all window types.

Manufacture and installation can often be more economical than frequently replacing the glazing or paying increased insurance premiums.

The system is manufactured from 2mm thick specially perforated steel plate, finished in external grade polyester powder coat paint, mounted into a two part extruded mitred and welded aluminium frame. The perforated screen offers protection against unauthorised access to the property through the window, or door, whilst also protecting the glass against blows, rocks or even air gun pellets. The fixings are neatly recessed within the frame and finished with a cap.

From a distance Security Shield Intruder merely gives the impression that the windows are fitted with tinted glass; but at close quarters it’s a visible deterrent to would-be burglars or glass smashing vandals.

Security Shield Intruder can be fitted to many locations including offices, factories, supermarkets, places of worship, public buildings and shops. It is also ideal for use in bridge walkways, waiting rooms and bus shelters where savings of up to 30% can be achieved against conventional glazing. Frames are available in a variety of matching colours.

Security Shield Vision

General

Security Shield Vision is the latest addition to the Security Shield family. Vision utilizes 3mm thick clear polycarbonate built into the Intruder framing system.

Application

Security Shield Vision is ideal for the protection of windows from vandalism in applications where no other form of physical security can be considered. Typical installations will include schools, offices, retail and residential housing.

Security Shield Vandal is a generic version of the main Intruder. It serves as a low cost alternative for the protection of glazing against vandalism and opportunist entry.

Security Shield Vandal does not carry any official security approvals and ought not to be specified as an alternative to Security Shield Intruder, though there may be occasions where a combination of products may be appropriate.

The size range is ideally limited to 1700mm x 2500mm although larger sizes may be considered.

Security Shield Vandal may be face or reveal fixed, and the fixing heads are recessed and capped for additional security.
