Teddington Electronics

Teddington Electronics specialise in printed circuit board assembly and Contract Electronics Manufacturing Services focussing on specialist manufacture for the medical, aeronautical and automotive industries. Based in Cornwall, they operate from a 25,000 sq ft manufacturing site with easy access by road, rail and air.

Teddington ElectronicsTeddington Electronics operate 2 MyData TP9’s. These high speed surface mount lines enable Teddington Electronics to accurately place 21,000 components per hour down to a minimum package size of 0402 making our Printed Circuit Board Assembly the best available.

Backed up by a Heller 1707 Reflow Oven, to ensure precise temperature control across the board put Teddingtons at the forefront of precision manufacture.

To compliment their Surface Mount and printed circuit board assembly lines, our Contract Electronics Manufacturing Services offer a fully comprehensive Through Hole service. With two dual wave flow solder machines, offering both unleaded and leaded facilities. Teddingtons maintain the leaded flow solder machine to service the MoD contracts they manage.

Test

To ensure ‘Right First Time’ manufacture, Teddingtons have rigorous inspections throughout the manufacturing process. At the start of the process, both MyDatas test each and every component before they are placed on the circuit board, all failing or questionable components being ejected. Having completed the SMT stage, all boards are inspected using a YesTech Automated Optical Inspection. This ensures the components are correctly positioned and checks the solder joints.

During the printed circuit board assembly the board passes through the second stage and general assembly, each board is both checked visually and then on a test rig at the end of the line to ensure it has been manufactured correctly.

Commitment to Quality

In order to maintain the highest standards of quality and service, our entire operation is constantly monitored to conform to IPC-A-610 and BS EN 9001:2000. In addition we are working towards the principles of TS16949, as a further example of our determination to constantly improve our quality systems.

Background

Teddington Electronics was established in 1998, when our parent company, Teddington Controls Ltd, decided to diversify and expand its market place by acquiring a local specialist Electronic Design House called Lizard Electronics.

Customer Service

We pride ourselves on the level of customer service we offer our existing and prospective customers. We believe that this is essential in assuring customers’ commitment to our relationship by constantly monitoring their needs and requirements.

Commitment to Training

We are committed to re-investing in both the people and the machinery that we employ. The abilities of our staff are closely monitored and a pre-requisite is that training is available to all. We believe that this is of paramount importance to ensure that we meet our aim of zero failures. We were awarded Train to Gain South West Medium Business of the year 2007 for our staff training.

Materials Management

We have developed a robust materials management system for our entire operation. This ensures that the procurement of all materials across the site meet our exacting standards. We strictly manage the costs, lead times and inventory at all times.

In order to achieve our goals, we work closely with a select number of strategic suppliers. Typically these are the blue chip manufacturers who operate world-wide. We recognise that quality, delivery and reliability are essential to the running not only of our business, but also those of our customers. We are delighted to offer these services to all customers:

  • Full or part sourcing of components: price, availability, lead times and quality
  • Printed Circuit Board Assembly
  • Supply and management of RoHS compliant material
  • Cost reduction audit/alternative component sourcing
  • Contract Electronics Manufacturing Services
  • Management of component obsolescence
  • Management of customer components in move to full procurement
  • Supplier Quality Assessments and audits

Our ‘open-book’ policy ensures that the trust that exists between us and our customers is maintained and on-going, giving confidence on both sides that the partnership is mutually beneficial.

Process Management

We operate capacity planning through our production system and all of our products are bar coded to ensure traceability throughout the build.

Investments in software such as CircuitCam and Checkpoint enable us to accurately check and compare customer design information and quickly export this information directly to our SMT and AOI equipment.

We have a programme of constant re-investment across the entire operation, to support us in our efforts towards DFM (Design for Manufacture) and DFX (Design for Excellence).

Compliance
When the RoHS Directive came into force in 2006, we had already been manufacturing compliant product for a number of our international customers, so it was easy to adapt. In our role as a strategic partner, we were able to assist some of our smaller customers in adapting their processes or product to ensure the new directives were met too.
