Nordfab QF ducting branches out
Nordfab QF clipped ducting is now available
for commercial kitchen, municipal building and industrial air and fume
extraction systems. Originally designed to set the industry standard for easy to
fit, high quality, versatile ducting for dust and fume extraction (local exhaust
ventilation LEV) applications, it is now being discovered as an ideal system for
much wider application.
Nordfab QF offers a smooth easily cleaned
internal surface, virtually leakproof seams and joints and the ability to simply
unclip any section or fitting for inspection and cleaning. Duct sections feature
plasma welded seams and rolled ends that can be clipped together in seconds -
robust re-sealable gaskets and positive action clips require no tools. The
resulting duct system is suitable for systems that must conform to DW/144 class
A, B and C leakage standards. In addition, the ease of inspection and cleaning
afforded by the easy clip-together design enable compliance with HVCA Guide TR/19
(Sects 3 & 7) by design. Nordfab QF is
therefore the natural choice for kitchen extract systems in accordance with HVCA
DW/172 principles of good design.

Sizes range from 80 to 710mm diameter and ducting is manufactured from bright
galvanised steel in thicknesses from 0.7 to 1.2mm as standard, with 2.0mm thick
available for heavy duty. Stainless steel is a factory option.
A full complement of bends,
elbows, dampers and branches is available, together with hoods, end caps and all
installation components. Versatile slip joints, in all duct sizes ensure a good
looking accurate installation every time.
The clipped together design not only saves installation time, but removes the
need for inspection panels and elbows, saving further cost and simplifying the
whole job. The design also lends itself to alteration or expansion as the need
arises. Indeed it may be dismantled and re-fitted elsewhere to suit a totally
different plant layout.
In addition to the standard QF range there are many complementary components for
special situations, such as CARZ ATEX backdraught dampers to prevent propagation
of hot matter along a duct arising from an explosion elsewhere in a system.

To enable fitting of fire or explosion protection devices, the
Nordfab QF range has been independently tested
under explosive conditions to validate a reduced explosion pressure (Pred) of
0.8 bar, a value that offers a generous safety margin. Therefore safety
compliance is assured when handling flammable or explosive dusts, which include
most plant based materials, many chemicals as well as metal dusts.
An interactive catalogue makes on-line selection and ordering of ducting and
duct installation components a simple task. Factor in a comprehensive range from
80 to 710mm diameter in the clipped range alone and there need be no compromise.
