PRUFTECHNIK is a multi-national company who are specialists in the development and manufacture of precision laser measurement, vibration analysis and non destructive testing equipment for process industry.

PRUFTECHNIK began leading the way in industrial maintenance more than 30 years ago and with 300 patents across the complete range of its products it is the foremost independent supplier of equipment in its field.

The company were the inventors of the principle of using lasers to measure shaft alignment between rotating process machinery. The OPTALIGN® system was the world’s first commercially available laser shaft alignment system for maintenance engineers who as a daily routine needed to align process equipment. PRUFTECHNIK laser systems are in use worldwide in companies across the whole spectrum of industry from Offshore oil exploration to production of Beer and food products.

The condition monitoring product spectrum ranges from simple hand-held measuring devices to multi-channel, permanently installed monitoring systems for large machine parks. In the NDT division we ensure that manufacturers of semi-finished products and their customers obtain products of the best possible quality. Our eddy current and flux leakage testing equipment of the EDDYCHEK® and NOVAFLUX® series detects flaws in semi-finished metal products, which can then be marked and sorted out. Our systems are also employed in the optimization of production processes and the reduction of scrap.

Back in 1982 PRUFTECHNIK invented Laser Shaft Alignment for rotating machines. By using lasers to align machines such as motors, pumps, compressors, fans and gearboxes the company opened a new and unique opportunity to engineers for the fast and accurate alignment of important process equipment. Hand in hand with accurate alignment of machines went greater plant operational reliability and hence fewer expensive plant operating failures.

Laser shaft alignment is now a well established method of rotating machine alignment, the original OPTALIGN® system has evolved many times through to its current OPTALIGN® Smart models and ROTALIGN® Ultra advanced laser alignment systems. Fast user friendly operation with multi-function features so that not only shaft alignment but flatness, straightness, parallelism and other geometric laser alignment functions has been the key development path which has kept PRUFTECHNIK as the leading supplier of laser measurement systems.

Condition monitoring of rotating machines using vibration analysis is a well established and proven method of improving process plant machine reliability. PRUFTECHNIK have been at the forefront of this business since the early 1980’s. Using FFT vibration analysis and the latest and fastest FFT analysers the company has led market trends in portable data collection and in the growth of on-line fixed vibration and data collection systems. Many years ago PRUFTECHNIK realised that it was not simply good enough to be the supplier of the best alignment and condition monitoring systems. The modern workplace demands that engineers are well trained and multi skilled in a variety of disciplines so training by equipment suppliers is essential; to this end PRUFTECHNIK created a separate and independent (of sales) training division.

Over time this division has trained and certified thousands of engineers in the use of their systems, but it has not stopped there. Our engineers are experts in the use of PRUFTECHNIK laser alignment and vibration analysis systems, it is therefore a logical extension that we offer this expertise to companies who require high level assistance to install and monitor key process plant.

Our engineers are trained and certified in offshore survival and working at height (for service on wind turbines). We have extensive field knowledge of alignment, analysis and balancing of turbines, compressors, fire pumps, generators and other key plant. All our engineers are certified vibration analysis specialists.
