Disk Spring Definition: |
|
Disk springs were conceived in the mid 1800's, they were invented by Julian
Belleville subsequently naming them the Belleville Washer. In 1867 Julian
Belleville received a patent for the product.
The simple spring device has been progressively advanced to a sophisticated
energy storage system by developments such as turbine and jet systems, internal
combustion engine, oil and gas exploration, nuclear power etc.
Disc Springs arranged into stacked columns can achieve infinitely variable
spring characteristics. They can also be dynamically loaded or statically
loaded. |

Serrated Safety Washers: |
|
The serrated safety Washer is based on the disk spring concept. They have a
unique feature of radial serrations on the convex and concave surfaces.
Tightening of the screw causes final flattening of the safety washer to occur,
the serrations bite into the surface preventing the screw from loosening due to
causes like vibrations etc. The disk spring profile will also assist in keeping
the required screw tension.
The safety Washer and the Belleville Spring Washer offer a reduced outer
diameter than the conventional Disk Spring and are particularly compatible with
hexagonal socket type screws.
They are made from Carbon Spring Steel, upon request surface treatments are
available. |
